Son Tae-Young - "You're The Best Lee Soon-Shin"

Born in 1980, Son Tae-Young was former Miss Korea before family commitments made her resign to an actress’s role. Although often apart of the supporting cast, one of her most noted roles is Lee Hye-Shin in the Korean drama “You’re the Best Lee Soon-Shin”.

Lee Hye-Shin is the eldest daughter of the Lee family. Having grown up beautiful and the most popular girl in school, she graduated from a top university and was going to lead a prosperous career at a multinational company as a lawyer before she married a man who was considered perfect – wealthy, handsome and from a prominent family. Due to her husbands work, she moved from Korea to China to become a mother and housewife.

Son Tae-Young’s character, seems like a typical story about a perfect life however if it wasn’t for her good life it wouldn’t reveal the complications that lie beneath such a pretty story.

Throughout the series, she continues to display her elegance and knowledge however this serves to continuously remind the audience that she lost important opportunities during her marriage. Lee Hye-Shin is a character that deals with accepting failure and the pressure that comes with attaining perfection. It also deals with the stereotypes of women supposedly being unable to be independent.

Tina Belcher in Bob's Burgers

Bob's Burgers is an American animated sitcom created by Loren Bouchard for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series centers on the Belchers—parents Bob and Linda, and their children Tina, Gene, and Louise—who run a hamburger restaurant.

The face behind the cartoons.

Tina Ruth Belcher is the oldest child. She is a hopeless romantic with a powerful sex drive and minimal social skills.  She likes horses, rainbows, zombies, writing erotic fiction, and movies, as was revealed in Crawl Space. She attends Wagstaff School with her siblings, Gene Belcher and Louise Belcher. She is voiced by Dan Mintz.

Tina's personality in essence is a quirky girl transitioning from childhood to adolescence. The child in her still clings to her love for horses, rainbows, and zombies while her inner teenager calls her to fantasize about zombies making out, writing her feelings/activities in her diary, to write erotic fiction whether it be about friends or other people's works, and constantly think about her crush, Jimmy Pesto, Jr., along with anyone else she deems cute like an entire baseball team of twenty-five for example.

Tina Belcher is funny, witty and just spin award. Her character is so relatable as many teenage girls can empathise with her social situations. The satirical characterisation emphasises the embarrassing and less glamorous side of growing up, crushes, school and life in general.

Donna Noble - Doctor Who

From the introduction of her character it is very clearly shown that she is in no way similar to predeceasing female traveling companions of the Doctor. Portrayed by actress Catherine Tate.

She stands by her own opinion, which often gets her into trouble and wakes her up to the fact that she can make a difference. Though, despite The Doctor telling her otherwise she doesn’t hold on to every word he says. Along with her amazing qualities, she also has her down moments when she is unable to see her true value. This is something all women can relate. We often don’t always feel amazing and have our bad days. Despite her hard and loud exterior shell, she is still quite soft inside, like we all are. She often has trouble convincing herself how truly important she is.

Henson’s Character, Cookie has a bold fashion statement, which accompanies her character.  In her first appearance of the show, she is released from prison in what she was locked up in. Her outfit is a bit outdated. However as the show goes on her wardrobe grows. Her wardrobe is filled with fur, animal prints, god and sparkles, which portray her as “fierce, caring and extremely powerful”.

Mindy Kaling - Actress, Director, Writer and the lead in the Mindy Project.

Mindy Kaling is best known for her role in the popular TV comedy "The Mindy Project".
She is also known for her work on the NBC sitcom "The Office", where she portrayed the character Kelly Kapoor and served as executive producer, writer and director.
In 2012, Kaling pitched a single-camera comedy to Fox called The Mindy Project, which was written and produced by Kaling. Fox began airing the series Tuesdays at 9:30 Eastern Time starting in 2012.
Kaling notes that she is sometimes described as a pioneer, as there are not yet very many Indian-American women on television.
In 2004, when The Office producer Greg Daniels was working to adapt The Office from the BBC show of the same name, he hired Kaling as a writer-performer after reading a spec script she wrote. "She's very original ... If anything feels phony or lazy or passé, she’ll pounce on it."
When Kaling joined the The Office, she was 24 years old and was the only woman on a staff of eight. She took on the role of character Kelly Kapoor, debuting in the series’ second episode, "Diversity Day." She has written at least 22 episodes, including "Niagara", for which she was co-nominated for an Emmy with Greg Daniels. Kaling wrote and directed the webisode "Subtle Sexuality" in 2009.
In a 2007 interview with The A.V. Club, she stated that "Kelly" is "an exaggerated version of what I think the upper-level writers believe my personality is. After the "Diwali" episode, Kaling appeared with Daniels on NPR's Fresh Air.
It is evident that Mindy Kaling is a stand out in the comedy world and in TV. This is displayed through the many awards she has received on a professional as well as a personal level. She is a wonderful role model for females all around the world. To do what you love and never let anything get in the way of that. Being a minority in both gender and ethnicity especially in hollywood isn't a disadvantage but there is a progression giving these minorities a voice and audience.
